Pay: $23.43 min to $28.11 mid per hour

Under general supervision, films, edits, and produces video assets for various departments within the City; assists in the production of live music and video exhibition events; assists in the production of live meetings; photographs events and various projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates the filming and photography of City events and interviews with City employees.
  • Edits footage into a finished product within the creative guidelines of City departments.
  • Assists in the operation of the City’s live meeting cameras and video streaming hardware and software.
  • Assists in publishing videos to online platforms.
  • Maintains a video recording schedule, including City events, podcasts, and videos.
  • Assists in the production of live music and video exhibition events.
  • Maintains work log of filming, editing, service requests, equipment malfunctions, software errors and failures; reports technical problems which need to be addressed by improved procedures and technology.
  • Processes tasks/projects from start to finish independently, using good judgement and determining when to engage help from colleagues.
  • Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values, and goals of the City by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
  • Responds outside of normally scheduled work hours in response to special events, natural disasters, emergencies, or critical incidents as determined by the City.
  • Cooperates with co-workers professionally to accomplish work efficiently and effectively.
  • Has regular, predictable attendance; attendance is a factor in continued employment with the City.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Radio, Television, and Film, or a related field
  • AND two years of experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver license prior to employment. (Must obtain Texas Class C driver license within 30 days of hire per State law.)
  • FAA Part 107 Drone Remote Pilot Certificate is preferred.

Required Knowledge of:

  • Still and video camera operation and maintenance.
  • Multimedia methods, policies, and procedures.
  • Animation creation and production.
  • Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Video encoding.
  • Video color correction and grading.
  • Audio-visual equipment setup and usage.
  • Lighting and set design.
  • Audio mixing consoles.
  • Media Production, communication, and dissemination methods.
  • Hardware, software, and peripheral equipment troubleshooting techniques.
  • MS Office computer applications and operating systems.
  • Customer service standards and protocols.
  • City organization, operations, policies, and procedures.

Required Skill in:

  • Quality cinematography and visual storytelling.
  • Concept-to-completion process, taking creative direction from stakeholders.
  • Assessing project needs and implementing effective solutions.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Analyzing the needs of City departments and prioritizing and coordinating solutions to meet their needs.

Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment, utilizing computers and peripheral equipment; Work is also performed outside in various weather conditions; may occasionally be required to lift up to 50 lbs.; requires vision capacity to perform fine calibrations and differentiate between colors.
